In the Vineyards
Muscat is ideally planted on well-exposed slopes. White Muscat "à petits grains" or "Muscat d' Alsace" is well suited to calcareous soils. The Muscat Ottonel is an early varietal, with low acidity and very fine aromas. This variety is very sensitive to climatic hazards (sagging or loss of flowers during flowering), which explains its rarity and irregular production. The Muscat Ottonel is well adapted to clay and limestone soils. This is generally the harmonious blend of these varieties gives wines to the finest and most persistent aromas.
